So I was scrolling down IG and I came across a post.

I don't remember exactly what it said, but I know that at the bottom, it had Matthew 19:26 on it. I was curious, so I went to the verse. It says:

“Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” (NLT)

I read it and was like, "Amen, but duh. Of course everything is possible with God."

Then I stopped.

One thing that really important when it comes to the Bible is context. Everybody wants their promise, but no one wants to do what they're supposed to do to get that promise. With that in mind, I scroll back up and start reading.

I started at verse 16:

Verse 21 and 22 is where I stopped and busted out laughing. How many times have we looked at something God clearly wants us to do and say, "It ain't worth all that."?

We might not say it with our words, but our actions do.

He wants us to help those less fortunate, but we won't go out of our way for others unless it benefits us.

He wants us to love our enemies, but we do everything in our power to try any get someone back or we act petty unnecessarily.

He wants to spend time with us, but we jam pack our days with family, friends, work, church, social media, and other extra curricular activities. When it's all said and done we've given Him what, maybe 10 minutes at the end of our day and it's us telling Him what we want and not even trying to hear what He has to say.

We've got to do better because guess what?

He IS worth all that!

In verse 23 and 24 it says that it's EXTREMELY hard for a rich person to get into heaven because they aren't willing to give up the necessary things here on Earth to give God glory. We're conditioned to believe that money will make everything better, but clearly that's not true.

Biggie said it best:

A minister at my church put it another way. He said that everyone has a list of things that are super important to them and they're the things I named earlier: family, friends, etc. This problem with lists though is that the things on that list can be rearranged based on life circumstances. Good can NOT be on a list. He needs to be Lord over everything and you let Him rearrange your list.

So as we out here finding our purpose and getting these checks, make sure you keep everything in the order that it's supposed to be in. Like verse 26 says, EVERYTHING is possible with God, but what are we doing with our EVERYTHING? I believe that God blesses us with more so we can turn around and use those blessings to bless others. Make sure your don't forget why you we given those things.
