No Such Thing As a Loss
"A loss ain’t a loss, it’s a lesson
Appreciate the pain, it’s a blessin"
'L stands for Lesson, not Loss' has been a message that I've lived by all 2017, so when I heard this line on 'Smile' on Jay's 4:44 album, it easily became one of my favorite lines.
I took a lot of L's this year. I didn't get a job that I really wanted. People that I really thought loved me showed me their true colors. Some things that I was working on didn't pan out the way I wanted. Parts of this year were painful, exhausting, and overall just really hard.
But looking back, I'm thankful for those parts.
Everytime I hit a wall this year, instead of being mad and beating myself up, I took it as an opportunity to learn myself.
Why did this happen?
Could I have avoided this outcome?
What can I learn from this?
Those lessons not only strengthened me, but they showed me parts of myself that I didn't even realize I possessed.
I also realized that some of those lessons weren't only for me. In certain situations, I had to take the L to show that the bounce back was possible.
So as we close out 2017, look back over your lessons that you encountered this year. Make sure that you got everything that you needed out of those situations because the lessons you learned will only help put you in a better position for next year.
Make sure you're ready!
P.S.- Happy Christmas Eve❤️
