There's Levels To Our Magic✨
We have a little over a week before the super villain takes office.
(I'm still disgusted that I have to say that.🙄)
With that being said, I want to take this time to encourage you.
With the world we live in right now, it feels like they're trying to bully, beat, steal, repeal, and deport the 'otherness' out of us. They're also trying to normalize white supremacy (the fancy term they've been trying to use is Alt Right😒).
It is our job to make sure that none of this happens. Our ancestors have survived some of the worst this country has had to offer and it is our responsibility to stand up and make sure that we are seen, heard, and acknowledged.
We all have a platform. A voice. It doesn't have to be the loudest, the clearest, or the funniest. What matters is that you're using it. We have to stand up for ourselves and hold accountable those who we elected and are supposed to speak for us. Regardless of if we like it or not, he and his cabinet represents us on a global scale. We have to hold them accountable for everything! That means using our social media for more than posting our bomb selfies or that video of the latest challenge. That means actually getting out into the streets and protesting or calling your local congress person and demanding change. Use your platform. Use your voice!
We also have a responsibility to stand up for those who can't do it for themselves. Children and elders are the cornerstones of our culture and it's important to protect them. For example, it is our responsibility to speak up about the suggested cuts to medicare and education because that heavily effects these two groups. We all have to be united in the fact that any type of dismissiveness or disrespect of these groups will not be tolerated.
Resilience runs through our veins, so I truly believe that we'll be ok, but I'm not going to sugar coat it: we're in for a fight. The next four years will be A LOT, but we don't have to let them be all negative. It's all about your perspective. Ecclesiastes 3 talks about everything having a session, so I'm determined to keep being unapologetically myself during this season. That means continuing to give God my all wholeheartedly. That means loving myself and loving others unconditionally. That means continuing to grow and push myself toward my greatness. That means calling out racism, sexism, and all the other -isms I am confronted with everytime, regardless of who it is and when it's brought to me. It's important to go into this with a positive perspective and always seeking the silver lining.
So as we start this new chapter as a country, all I can say is:
Stay prayerful, stay strong, and stay dope, because just like Jesse Williams said:
And because we are real and not just another group they get to steal from or attempt to bastardize for their benefit, they don't get to dictate or write our next four years for us.
So what will it say?
